The top community cricket clubs and associations in Western Australia achieve the following:
- Are affiliated with WA Cricket
- Have fully adopted Australian Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children and Young People, signed the Commitment Statement, appointed a Child Safety Officer, and have communicated this to their Cricket Manager
Senior clubs
- Will also have female or integrated cricket at some level (Perth Scorchers Women’s League, Integrated Cricket League, or a social format).
Junior Clubs
Will also have
- A Woolworths Cricket Blast program with a WA Cricket trained coordinator
- At least one female team
- All coaches will be registered on Play HQ
- Eighty per cent of coaches have attended WA Cricket run coach development activities in the lead up or during the season
- Be actively engaged with WA Cricket to create school links.
Country clubs and associations
Will also have
- A Woolworths Cricket Blast program or be part of an association-wide program with a WA Cricket trained coordinator
- At least one female cricket team at some level
- All junior coaches are registered on Play HQ
- Eighty per cent of junior coaches attended WA Cricket run coach development activities in the lead up or during the season
- Be actively engaged with WA Cricket to create school links.
Other steps on the path to becoming a top club or association
As well as being affiliated with WA Cricket and meeting Australian Cricket’s child safeguarding requirements noted above, clubs who have taken the following steps on the path to becoming a top club or association, may be eligible for a WA Community Cricket Award.
- Have a female coordinator on the club committee
- Have one or more of the following
- Junior or senior female teams
- Girls participating in Woolworths Cricket Blast
- Female social competition
- Be working towards a Star Blast, Integrated Cricket League, or other diversity program (accredited/endorsed by Autism WA or Sport 4 All)
- Have received WA Cricket training to deliver an inclusion or diversity program or engaged with a specialist (WA Cricket staff or a provider such as Autism WA or Sport 4 All)
- Engaged in a partnership with another provider, community group or LGA on a community-based initiative.
