Player Story

A rising star of Australian cricket, Wyllie tallied 278 runs at 69.50 to be Australia's leading run-scorer during the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies. This, coupled with several strong seasons for Rockingham-Mandurah, earned Wyllie his Sheffield Shield debut aged 17 during WA's penultimate match of the 2021-22 season. He scored 42 from 95, batting at five, and held his place for the Final the following week, when WA won its first Shield title in 23 years.

Wyllie was subsequently awarded a full contract ahead of the 2022-23 domestic season, and shapes as a key pillar of WA's top-order for years to come. The compact right-hander is considered a red ball player of exceptional promise and has developed a reputation for his ability to bat time.

He became one of WA's youngest ever Shield title winners in 2021-22, playing in his first Shield final at the age of just 17 years and 342 days as WA claimed victory against Victoria at the WACA Ground.

Wyllie became a regular in WA's top order the following season, often filling the all-important number three position.

In the opening match the following season, Wyllie became WA's youngest Shield centurion in nearly three decades when he struck his maiden first-class century against New South Wales at the WACA Ground.

He then put the exclamation mark on WA's second consecutive Shield title later that season, striking the winning runs alongside Cameron Bancroft as WA beat Victoria in the Final.
