The gritty left-handed opener and son of former Zimbabwe international Murray Goodwin first joined WA's rookie list in 2019-20 before walking away the following year to undertake a missionary trip. Goodwin re-joined WA's squad in 2021-22 on another rookie deal and made his First-Class debut against Queensland at the Gabba after showing strong form for Subiaco-Floreat. Goodwin is disciplined at the crease and renowned for his desire to play long innings.
Goodwin found a consistent spot in WA's top order during the 2023-24 season, playing eight matches including the victorious Shield Final against Tasmania at the WACA Ground. The stylish left-hander produced a breakout season, scoring 421 runs including a maiden Shield century against Queensland.
His form has carried on into the 2024-25, with his patient and textbook batting style quickly becoming a key pillar in the WA side. His 379 runs at 42.11 in five matches highlights his consistency, which has been rewarded in recent times with selection in both Australia A and Cricket Australia XI representative teams.
