McKenzie was, by some distance, the most prolific bowler during the 2021-22 Alcohol.Think Again First Grade Premier Cricket competition. Bowling left arm wrist spin, McKenzie collected 58 wickets at 12.86 and took five-wicket hauls against Midland-Guildford (7-45), Bayswater-Morley (5-20), Mount Lawley (5-30), University (5-45) and Claremont-Nedlands (5-52). These exploits earned him the Olly Cooley Medal as the league's best First Grade player, and saw McKenzie offered a Rookie contract with Western Australia for season 2022-23. McKenzie is also a useful lower-middle-order batter who can score quickly when required.
