Mahli Beardman is considered one of Australia's most promising young fast bowlers.
A Cowaramup local who also spent time in Dampier alongside fellow WA quick Josh Vernon, Beardman earned his first rookie contract before the 2023-24 domestic season.
Beardman's considerable talent was especially evident during the 2024 Under-19 World Cup in South Africa, when he claimed 10 wickets at 10.50 from six appearances. He rounded off the title-winning campaign by collecting 3-15 from seven overs in the final against India, earning Player of the Match honours for his efforts.
Months earlier, the laid-back teenager made his WA debut in a One-Day Cup match against New South Wales in Sydney, claiming the scalp of decorated Blues veteran Moises Henriques.
Beardman was a shock inclusion for Australia's ODI series against England in September 2024, rushing to the airport just hours after learning of his selection as a reserve pace bowler.
Despite his youth and slight frame, Beardman is already among WA's fastest bowlers, capable of swinging the new ball which clocking speeds exceeding 140km/h.
The teenager - likened by some to teammate and nationally contracted quick Jhye Richardson - signed a two-year Big Bash League deal with Perth Scorchers for BBL|14 and BBL|15.
