First-gamers galore for South Australia clash

WA will unveil at least three debutants during its One-Day Cup (ODC) clash with South Australia at the WACA Ground tomorrow.

Batter Jayden Goodwin, gloveman Joel Curtis and off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli have been named in a youthful 12-player squad and would make their List A debuts if selected.

Brody Couch, who represented Victoria in six ODC games between March 2021 and March 2022, is also a chance to play his first limited overs match for WA.

The quartet joins young quick Mahli Beardman (one ODC game), allrounder Keaton Critchell (two), opener Sam Fanning (two) and swing bowler Bryce Jackson (three) in the mix for WA’s last ODC home game of 2024-25.

Lance Morris is poised to lead the bowling attack, while skipper Ashton Turner, Hilton Cartwright and D’Arcy Short offer considerable experience.

Ashton Agar injured his left calf during the ILT20 last week, with a timeline for the spin-bowling allrounder's return to be determined in due course.

Cameron Bancroft (shoulder), Jhye Richardson (shoulder), Matthew Spoors (omitted) and Andrew Tye (omitted) also make way from the team that played Victoria at the MCG on 13 November.

Currently sixth on the ladder, WA faces South Australia (second) and Queensland (fourth) in its remaining two games.
