WA Cricket is mourning the loss of former WA Cricket Board Member Robert Kenneth O’Connor, who passed away peacefully on Sunday 12 January, aged 81.
Vale Robert O'Connor
O’Connor’s commitment to the game of cricket shone through during his time on the WACA Board in the 2000’s, playing a key role in the organisation in an off-field role.
O’Connor was a keen cricketer during his junior days at Aquinas College, with his passion for the game leading him to an involvement in WA Cricket’s Gallery of Greats Committee.
He was also a member of the editorial committee on Bill Reynolds ‘Making the Grade’ book, highlighting his interest in the history of WA Premier Cricket.
O’Connor devoted his time to many causes and served on multiple boards, including the Mannkal Foundation, the Nelson Society of Australia and the Board of Management at South Perth Hospital.
Robert was the beloved father of Simone, Stephanie and Peter, father-in-law to Brian (dec.), Andrew and Kate. Much loved grandfather of Abigail, Madeleine, Daniel, Lucas and Beau.
The WACA Board, WA Cricket Management, staff and players extend their deepest sympathies to the O'Connor family.
