WA Cricket's Volunteer of the Month for December is Alex Hayes from Kardinya Junior Cricket Club (KJCC).
December's Volunteer of the Month
Alex’s cricket journey started six years ago when he was a member of the Autism in Cricket program, before making his way to KJCC with his teammates last season.
A passionate supporter of growing the game and encouraging people of all abilities to get involved, he has taken up coaching the junior ICL team at KJCC.
By coaching the junior ICL team at KJCC, Alex provides support to individual players to not only help progress their skills and understanding of the game, but more importantly, foster their passion and enjoyment of cricket in the local community.
In addition to mentoring his team outside of training, Alex is the driving force behind the fundraising effort to ensure all players on the team can have their own cricket equipment.
Upon Alex’s selection into the National Cricket Inclusion Championships (NCIC) squad for Western Australia, he extended his fundraising efforts to include arranging jumpers and kit bags for every player in the squad.
By raising funds to get the NCIS team matching jumpers and kit bags, Alex is building a sense of belonging within the team and supporting all players to feel accepted and demonstrate pride when representing their home state at the championships.
Congratulations Alex!
