Western Australia have finalised their 14-player squad for their Women's National Cricket League fixture against New South Wales on Sunday 12 January at the WACA Ground.
WNCL Action Returns to WACA Ground
English allrounder Naomi Dattani is poised to make her WNCL debut, after earning selection in the squad following a career-best start to the summer for Midland-Guildford in WA Premier Cricket.
Dattani has been the dominant player in Female A Grade cricket in 2024-25, compiling an impressive 224 runs at 56 in seven innings, as well as capturing seven wickets at 18.85. Her crowning moment of the summer so far came in the recent T20 Final at the WACA Ground, where she notched an unbeaten 103* off 61 balls to be named Player of the Match.
Dattani adds significant experience and leadership to a young WA squad, with the 30-year-old having captained Middlesex in English County Cricket and represented Southern Brave, London Spirit and Trent Rockets in the Hundred Competition.
WA will be hoping to notch their first victory of the campaign, following four consecutive defeats to last year’s finalists Tasmania and Queensland in their opening quartet of matches.
Talented teenagers Chloe Ainsworth and Ines McKeon will miss the match, as they prepare for the Under 19 World Cup beginning on 18 January in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, experienced middle-order batter Lisa Griffith has decided to call time on her domestic career, effective immediately.
Griffith represented Western Australia on 23 occasions over her four-year journey in the Yellow and Black, often providing a calm middle-order presence and veteran leadership.
The match will be broadcast on Kayo and Cricket.com.au with the first ball scheduled for 10:00AM WST.
