WA Cricket to Thank Volunteers All Season Long

At each women’s and men’s Big Bash League home game, WA Cricket celebrates the extraordinary generosity of cricket volunteers with the naming of a Volunteer of the Match.

So far this season, we have celebrated three volunteers at each of the Weber Women’s Big Bash matches held at the world renounce WACA Ground.

27 October - Perth Scorchers v Melbourne Stars

Matthew Moroney works for Ngurra Kujungka to link remote Western Desert communities through cricket to provide more opportunities for Aboriginal juniors and youth.

As part of WA Cricket’s annual Kambarang Cricket Carnival Moroney volunteered and coached the Newman team that travelled to Perth to participate. The carnival included cultural activities and linked to the WBBL First Nations match played at the WACA Ground.

5 November - Perth Scorchers v Brisbane Heat

Diane DeRay is the Girl’s Coordinator at Coolbinia West Perth Junior Cricket Club.

DeRay was celebrated as Volunteer of the Match on 5 November for her passion about growing the girl’s program, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to play cricket.

Under DeRay's leadership the program supports players to love their cricket which enables continuous improvement.
