Opening batter Cameron Bancroft and off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli will return to the fold for WA’s Sheffield Shield clash with Victoria at the CitiPower Centre, starting Friday 15 November.
Star pair set to face Vics
Pivotal figures in their state’s Shield three-peat, Bancroft and Rocchiccioli were both representing Australia A against India A when WA triumphed over Tasmania last week.
Hard-hitting allrounder Keaton Critchell has also been added to the mix after taking his first wicket for WA during the One-Day Cup loss to Victoria at the MCG on Wednesday.
He and 19-year-old fast bowler Mahli Beardman will be on Sheffield Shield debut if selected in the starting side.
Captain Sam Whiteman is unavailable with a side strain suffered at training the day before WA’s last Sheffield Shield contest, while pace bowler Matt Kelly injured his quad early in that match. Young batter Teague Wyllie has been omitted.
One-Day Cup skipper Ashton Turner will again captain the team in Whiteman’s absence.
WA enters the contest ranked first on the Sheffield Shield ladder with two wins and a draw from three games. Victoria (one win, one draw, one loss) is currently third.
Play is scheduled to begin at 7:30AM, WA time, and will be broadcast live on Kayo and Cricket.com.au.
