Looking Ahead at Community Cricket in Season 2024-25

As season 2024-25 kicks into gear, we are excited to see an enormous number of girls and boys registered to pick up the bat and ball this summer.

WA Cricket has seen a substantial increase in registrations across both Woolworths Cricket Blast and Junior Cricket, showing that cricket is once again a sport of choice for our WA youth.

WA Cricket General Manager – Community Cricket Jo Davies said it was pleasing to see so many kids signed up to play cricket already this season.

“It’s incredible to see just how many kids are keen to give cricket a go for the first time this summer as well as sign up at their local clubs,” she said.

“It highlights that cricket is becoming a leading sport for kids from any background, and we’ve had a strong start to the season with 413 metropolitan junior matches played during our first weekend of the season.”

In the metropolitan area, over 8,000 junior registrations have been taken prior to the start of the season as well as 971 registered Junior coaches, 730 registered Team Managers. It is also exciting to see over 4000 Woolworths Cricket Blast registrations.

In our regions, over 1,300 kids registered to Woolworths Cricket Blast and more than 2,000 kids have signed up to Junior Cricket.

Across the state there are over 16,300 men and women signed up to play senior cricket.

Woolworths Cricket Blast registrations are still open for those wanting to join the fun this summer, to sign up visit PlayCricket.

With the season well and truly underway, WA Cricket has kicked off our Thank a Cricket Volunteer, where a volunteer nominee will go in the running to become a WA Cricket Volunteer of the Month or be nominated for a Community Cricket Award.

If you wish to thank a volunteer in your local cricket club, you can do so here.
