WNCL Squad locked in for Queensland clashes

Western Australia have finalised their 14-player squad for their Women's National Cricket League fixtures against Queensland on 3 & 5 October at Allan Border Field.

The squad is headlined by a trio of talented teenagers, with allrounder Rebecca McGrath (Melville), Chloe Bartholomew (Wanneroo) and Natasha Kelsey (Melville) all in the mix to make their senior debut.

Bartholomew and McGrath are both products of the WA Cricket Pathways Programs, with the duo also receiving Kay Leverington Scholarships in the last 12 months to highlight their exceptional cricketing ability.

Experienced seamer Taneale Peschel makes her return to the squad, after missing the opening round due to a quad injury.

Amy Edgar (hamstring) and Chloe Ainsworth (groin) will miss the Queensland fixtures, after the star pair both suffered minor injuries against Tasmania.

WA will be hoping to notch their first victory of the summer, following their two opening round defeats to the three-time champions at the WACA Ground last week.

Star recruit Mikayla Hinkley will be hoping to carry on her impressive start to the summer with the bat, after top-scoring with 62 in WA's narrow defeat in the second of two matches last week.

Reliable offspinner Lilly Mills has also begun the campaign fine form, producing her second five-wicket haul (5-46 off 9.5) of her career in Game One and a significant contribution (2-44 off 10) in Game Two.

WA’s games on Thursday and Saturday will be broadcast on Kayo and Cricket.com.au with the first ball scheduled for 7:30AM WST.

WA currently sit fifth on the WNCL table with a pair of losses from their opening two matches, while this week's opponent in Queensland sit sixth following back-to-back defeats to New South Wales.
