Richardson returns for ODC clash against Victoria

Western Australia have selected a 13-player squad for Monday’s Marsh One-Day Cup clash with Victoria at the WACA Ground, headlined by the return of fast bowler Jhye Richardson.

The dangerous right-armer has not played since injuring his hamstring during Perth Scorchers’ KFC Big Bash League clash with Sydney Thunder at Optus Stadium on 4 January.

Richardson, who had surgery to repair the injury in the off-season, will bolster an extended pace battery featuring Lance Morris, Jason Behrendorff, Andrew Tye and Charlie Stobo.

Aaron Hardie also returns to the fold, having played an important role with bat and ball during WA’s recent Marsh Sheffield Shield win over Victoria.

Meantime, left-arm wrist-spinner Hamish McKenzie will make his WA debut if selected in the final XI, holding his place in the squad that travelled to Brisbane for season-opening One-Day Cup contests against Queensland and South Australia.

Quicks Cameron Gannon and Liam Haskett make way for Richardson and Hardie. Allrounder Cooper Connolly is unavailable with a toe injury, and a timeframe for his return will be determined in due course.

Both WA and Victoria have registered two wins from as many games, sitting second and first on the One-Day Cup ladder, respectively.
