WNCL Squad confirmed for SA double-header

Western Australia have selected a 13-player squad for their Women’s National Cricket League double-header against South Australia at Karen Rolton Oval on 10 and 12 October.

Promising left-armer Georgia Wyllie is poised to return from a wrist injury, adding to a fast-bowling unit which includes Piepa Cleary, Zoe Britcliffe and exciting teenager Chloe Ainsworth.

Ainsworth impressed against Victoria last month in just her second WNCL match, taking 3-27 off eight overs, including the wickets of dangerous Australian pair Annabel Sutherland and Ellyse Perry.

Stars Beth Mooney and Alana King will miss the clash, with the pair both selected in Australia’s ODI squad to play the West Indies.

Experienced seamer Taneale Peschel (appendicitis) and young allrounder Charis Bekker (knee) both remain unavailable for selection due to injury.

WA got their season off to the perfect start last week, with back-to-back eight-wicket victories against a star-studded Victorian outfit at the WACA Ground.

Classy openers Chloe Piparo (98 not out in Game One) and Maddy Darke (76 not out in Game Two) will hope to continue their brilliant start to the season, after both made unbeaten half-centuries to guide their team to victory against the Spirit.
