Star Internationals Headline Sheffield Shield Squad

Mitch Marsh and Josh Inglis will feature in WA's Sheffield Shield season-opener against Queensland, which starts at the WACA Ground tomorrow.

Marsh blasted 108 not-out from 111 deliveries in his most recent Shield appearance, against Tasmania at the WACA Ground in March 2023.

A regular for Australia across all formats and the nation's T20 captain, Marsh is poised to play his fourth Shield match since the start of the 2019-20 season.

Australian limited overs gloveman Inglis, meanwhile, was influential towards the back of WA's triumphant 2023-24 Sheffield Shield campaign, scoring 266 runs at 53.20 from six innings.

He celebrated his first red ball title with WA in March, having missed the previous two championships due to international commitments.

The team will begin a new era under Sam Whiteman, WA's newly appointed Sheffield Shield captain, who guided WA to consecutive Shield titles while deputising for Marsh.

Former Victoria quick Brody Couch could make his WA debut after crossing the Nullarbor during the off-season, with fellow pace bowlers Cameron Gannon, Matt Kelly and Charlie Stobo also in the mix.

Prolific off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli, exciting spin-bowling allrounder Cooper Connolly, and batters Cameron Bancroft, Hilton Cartwright and Jayden Goodwin round out the squad of 12.

Allrounder Aaron Hardie (quad) and left-armer Joel Paris (calf) were unavailable for selection, with their fitness to be monitored ahead of WA's second Sheffield Shield match which starts 20 October against Tasmania.

Broadcast live on Foxtel, Kayo and Cricket.com.au, the match will begin 10:30am, WA time.
